Keeping those antennas in the air !
Tying antennas to towers, poles and trees can be a very confusing task unless you know how to do it properly. Unfortunately not everyone had the pleasure of being a boy scout or sailor.
If you want to know just about everything regarding tying knots, it is worth your while spending some time at the well documented website Animatedknots by Grog.
Every knot in the world is explained in a manner that anyone can understand. Just choose your category and find the right knot for the specific application....and you are done !
I hope it will help to keep those antennas up for good.

WorldRadio Online now available free !
WorldRadio Online is a monthly publication by CQ Communications, Inc.
A magazine about the current state of amateur radio containing many great DIY articles etc. It may be downloaded at no cost with no hidden agendas by the publisher.
CQ bought the magazine WorldRadio and are now publishing WorldRadio Online as a 21st century manifestation of the popular old print magazine following the decision by the original WorldRadio Publisher Armond Noble, N6WR, to retire and sell the magazine.
Radio Amateurs can subscribe to the magazine via email notification or download the current issue at the WorldRadio Online web site. Back-issues are also available for downloading.
Highly recommended reading and it's all free. Let CQ know what you think of their new publication.

The Radio Amateurs Code (1928)
1 - The amateur is considerate
He never knowingly uses the air in such a way as to lessen the pleasure of others
2 - The amateur is loyal
He offers his loyalty, encouragement and support to his fellow radio amateurs, his local club and his national association, through which amateur radio is represented
3 - The amateur is progressive
He keeps his station abreast of science. It is well-built and efficient. His operating practice is above reproach
4 - The amateur is friendly
Slow and patient sending when requested, friendly advice and counsel to the beginner, kindly assistance, cooperation and consideration for the interests of others; these are the marks of the amateur spirit
5 - The amateur is balanced
Radio is his hobby. He never allows it to interfere with any of the duties he owes to his home, his job, his school or his community
6 - The amateur is patriotic
His knowledge and his station are always ready for service of his country and his community
The code as formulated way back in 1928 has remained pretty much the same today.
It is worthy to note that it is still applicable to all Amateurs worldwide, young and old.

My flying career 1
During my lifelong career as Airline Transport Pilot, I was blessed with many opportunities to see the world and meet it's people. Flying mostly cargo with Hercules and Boeing aircraft over a period of thirty years for SAFAIR was not only hard work, but fun and rewarding.
A few pictures taken during various flights
Jakarta capital of Indonesia where the rich and the poor live side by side
Emperor Penguins photographed during one of my many flights to Antarctica
Stonehenge, probably the most intriguing place in the United Kingdom
New Zealand near Christchurch on the South Island
The busy nightlife in Singapore along Orchard Road's shopping malls
Picture of an old castle near Dublin in Ireland
Early morning at Kai-Tak Airport in Hong Kong during 1990
Light snow falling during the late afternoon in Copenhagen Danmark
Waiting for passengers to board at Jan Smuts International Airport South Africa
That's all for now folks, maybe some more flying in a future post on my blog. In the meantime back to farming and radio hamming.

Comprehensive list of South African Radio Amateur websites.
During my web surfing the last few months, it became clear that there are many SA Radio Amateurs with their own websites and blogs....the only problem is to find them on the web ! After a lot of effort I managed to find a few.
My aim is to provide the most comprehensive link list of SA Amateurs on my blog in order for others to surf the sites.
Should you have a website or blog which is not listed in my Links list, please advise me by e mail.
